Bodrum History
Bodrum, known as KARIA in arcaic age, and governed by the first woman admiral in history, Artemissia, has been invaded numureous times by the armies coming from Aegean Islands and has been dominated by Pers, Makedonian, Roman Empire and Byzantium.
The city was ruled by Rhodos Knights for a while, has been included in Ottoman Empire in 1522 by Kanuni Sultan Süleyman.
Thus, for Halikarnassos a turbulent period of live thousand years ended and the city turned into Aegeans’ heavenly resort.
